A.82. Very nice WWI German memorial placate named to ULRICH MEYER who was killed in action 23 February 1915. The placket consists of a bronze raised medallion 2 and 3/8" in diameter mounted on a gray brown marble tablet 4+' by 2 7/8" by 5/8 inches. The medallion has a side full body portrait of a running soldier about to throw a stick grenade. There is a raised sentence "IHREN 1914 - 16 GEFALLENEN ZUR EHRE UND ZUM GEDENKEN D. TECHN. HOCHSCHULE IN BERLIN. The medallion has the maker's hall mark HOSAEUS. This is a very nice personal piece of WWI memorabilia in very good condition.............

A.93. Very nice framed ( 8" by 8" ) WWI German Army brass cross grave marker ( 4 3/8" by 4 3/8" ) . The cross has the date 1914 and W for Wilhelm and is in the form of a WWI Iron Cross 2nd Class. Usually they were nailed on a wooden cross for unknown soldiers. The cross is mounted on a burgundy red velvet cloth backing and framed in a period style gold front and black edge frame. The effect is stunning. A rare find..............

SOLD! A.94. Very nice WWII German Navy (Kriegsmarine) P.O.W.s’ half submarine model mounted on a bakelite plaque. The submarine profile is that of a 750 ton U-Boat and is made of brass. The brass most likely was obtained from fired brass cartridges or scrap. The plaque dimensions’ are 8 ¾” wide by 4 1/8” high by 1’ in depth. The boat is 7 ¾” long by 1 5/8” at its’ highest (keel to conning tower mast). The profile includes a distinctive ballast tank, deck gun, two (2) twenty millimeters ack ack guns on a top and a lower level wintergarten. Prisoners usually made these types of items to trade with their guards for cigarettes, candy and other sundry items to make being a P.O.W.s’ life more bearable. SOLD! A.96. Very nice WWA II wartime made "trench art" made by a German crew member of the U-766 which was part of the 6th Flotilla stationed at St. Nazaire, France March - August 1944. The boat was built by Kriegsmarinewerft, Wilhelmshaven in 1941 and subsequently commissioned 30 July 1943 under the command of Oberleutnant Hans-Detrich Wilke. The boat was surrendered to Free French forces on 21 August 1944. The oval shaped plaque is 5 1/8" high by 10 5/8" long. Mounted on the wooden plaque is a brass made 8 /1/4" by 1 1/2" profile of a German submarine including the forward 88mm deck gun, the wintergarten with 20mm anti-aircraft guns and conning to bow radio aerial. There is a brass plaque underneath the submarine's profile with the place of stationing La Pallice. La Pallice had huge Organization Todt built concrete U-Boat pens. Also mounted on the plaque is a brass logo of the submarines with U-766 stamped on it. This is a very nice U-Boot item for a Kriegsmarine oriented collection...........

SOLD! A.97. Very nice WWII German P.O.W. U-Boat crewman submarine plaque trench art. This is a full profile plaque consisting of a wooden pedestal (14 1/2" long by 4 3/4" wide by 3/8" high) with a solid brass casting (12" long by 3 1/2" high at the highest - conning tower masts by 7/8" wide) mounted on a brown bakelite sheet which in turn is mounted on the oak board. The plaque was made from wooden and brass scraps at the P.O.W. camp located at Fort Aberdeen, Maryland during WW II. Prisoners made such items for camp guards in exchange for sundry items and cigarettes. This plaque was obtained from a veteran U.S. Army prisoner train guard. It is quite nice, unique and original to that period of history...........

SOLD! A.98. Very nice WWII German P.O.W. made U- Boot submarine wall plaque. The submarine is a half side profile of a German U-Boat. The plaque is wooden, 16 1/4" long by 5 3/4" high by 1/4" thick. The submarine profile is 14" in length, 3 3/4" high and 3/4" wide. The submarine is made of cast brass and bronze. It is a very nice model showing the deck gun, two 20mm cannons on the "wintergarten", and radar loop. Nicely done.......

SOLD! A.99. Very nice large WWII German SA large wooden eagle wall plaque. The eagle is the closed wing version of the party eagle with a national color shield held in it's talons. The plaque measures 16 1/4" high by 12+" wide by 1" thick. The carved eagle is very well done as is the painted shield. On the back of the plaque is engraved in script form, Alles fur Deutschland. Also written in period ink is the following plaque presentation greeting "An Wolfgang Lange von Reinhold Ruppe Kurt Rheinheimer". This is a very nice Third Reich period piece..............$375.SOLD!

A.100. Very nice heavy oak wood frame and molded plaster British WWI (1914 - 1918) memorial plaque commemorating the death of Pte. Arthur Hargroves, 6th West Yorks, aged 23 years, who died of wounds received in action in France on 25 September 1918. The plaques' frame dimensions are 17 1/4" wide by 21 1/4" high by 1 1/2" depth. Inserted in the frame is a molded plaster WWI casting (12 3/4" wide by 16 1/2" high) tiltled The Glorius Dead and the quote The Path of Duty Was the Way to Glory. The castings' design includes a "window" for Pte. Hargrove's families' prayer card. The ornate military motif(design) includes a front relief statute of a sailor on the left and below the prayer card with a soldier relief opposite on the right side. On the top of the casting is the Angel of Victorious Death. On the frame top is another wood piece sculptured to hold the "Death Penny" medallion issued to Pte. Hargroves' family This heavy medal medallion is 4 1/2' in diameter. The design includes the British Lion, a standing "VIctoria" the words HE DIED FOR FREEDOM AND HONOR and his name in raised relief in an oblong block. The overall ensemble has a very nice age patina. This wall mounting is in very good condition and needs an appreciative home.....

A.91. Very nice signed commemorative WWI Belgian bronze plaque (2 3/4" wide by 3 7/8" high by 1/8" depth). The plaque is inscribed " DE TOUS LES PEUPLEs De La CAVE BELGEs SONT LEPI BRAVEs". The front of the plaque has an extraordinary battle field scene. The plaque front is dated 1917 and has the sculptor's script signature Georges Petit. The reverse side has a large raised wreath with the inscription "Aux MorTs PoUR La PaTRiE" and on the bottom left corner * J. LISSOIR *( the manufacture). On the right side bottom is the casting location, * LIEGE *. This is an exquiste bronze.......

A.8. GERMAN/Norwegian Meissen Porcelain 2" diameter Plaquette dated 9 APRIL 1940. The obverse side has a high profile of a Viking ship under sail with a black swastika on the sail. Around the edge is the wording "DENN WIR FAHREN GEGEN ENGLAND" which means Then we sail against England. France had already fallen and the Germans and their allies were building up for the invasion of England. On the reverse side is a magnificent standing eagle with the words "ZUR ERINNERUNG AN DEN FELDZUG IN NORWEGEN". This means to honor those who campaigned in Norway. SOLD! A.81. Very nice steel constructed with age patina WWI German pestle and mortar for medical and chemistry use. The mortars' top opening dimension is 5 1/8", the bottom 3". The height is 4 1/2"+. The pestle is 5 1/4' long. The mortar has a raised relief date "1914-1916" and the inscription "DURCH KRIEG ZUM KRIEG" (Victory through war). The set is in very good condition. SOLD! A.92. Very interesting model or toy replica of the Mitsubishi A6M2 Model 21 Zero which was used as a air craft carrier air defense fighter as well as a land based dive bomber. This steel and tin model was made in Japan toward the end of WWII from scrap metal and then sold as a war souvenir to troops of the American occupation forces. The plane is 9" long by 10" across and 4" high. This is a very unique collector's item and still has the Japanese description and sales tag attached...............................$ 95.SOLD!
SOLD! A.101. Very nice walnut wood wall plaque (9" long by 6" high by 1" wide) with a ship's brass manufacturer's plate (6" long by 3 1/8" high). The plate was dive recovered off the CARIBSEA, a freighter that was sunk off Morehead, North Carolina 11 March 1942 by the German submarine U-158. The plate was recovered from the forward booms' (cargo loading derrick) deck engine. The plate is from ENGBERG'S Electric & Mechcanical Works, ST. Joseph, Michigan, U.S.A., serial number 3669. WWII U.S. Navy sailor made ship's models. During "down time" sailors made ship models like whalers carved scrimshaw from whale teeth and walrus tusks.
